It was sold to me as a tort but am not sure. If its indeed a tort, what kind of tort is it ?

Hard to say at that size, but i would guess it to be Acropora austera. Not A. tortuosa.

not all "torts" are actual torts, but it looks like a cali tort under led.

There is only one kind of tort. Acropora Tortuosa. All the others are made up names.
