Is this a tube anemonie or aiptasia??

Fixed so people can see in thread

Never seen an aiptasia that large! The tentacles look to thick, Could it be a duncan perhaps? if you irritate it, does it fully retract into the rock, or does it retreat into a stony base?

Definitely not a Duncan. I agree that it looks like a very large Aptasia. I just zap any aptaisia that I see with a VERY high powered laser. A few seconds and it will never return. This is a dangerous practice though, at least when proper precautions are not taken.

I'm not 100% convinced that it's an aiptasia. However, it is an anemone, and NOT a tube anemone, and it is in the middle of a zoa colony... I'd get rid of it and I'm an anemone lover!

Thank you all for your confirmation!! As it grew I started having doubts that it might be an imposter or a want-to-be aiptasia.
As I stated several times earlier, a year ago I had dozens of these when they were tiny. I got a peppermint shrimp that ate all except this one. The two get along just fine. I'll keep him as a good luck charm :)
