Is this a very good canister filter for reef?

Hi there!
Can you explain what you mean ? I was just asking if the Aqua One brand model Aquis 2200 is it a very good canister filter to use for reef aquariums? This model is for tanks up to 500L and has a 3 staqe filter system complete with skimmer. This was the filter suggested to me from the pet shop.

Cheers
Kim

i'm using 2 canister filters.........
With no media only small pieces of LR! they work great. LOTS of PODS and filter feeders grow threre and also helps with the FLOW! RENA FILSTAR 1 and 2:rollface:

The filters themselves can become nitrate factorys if not cleaned very regularly

The reason I am asking, because recently I got Magnum350. And currently running carbon there. As people on RC advised, changing carbon every 2 weeks with cleaning should not create any problems.

Is this the one in question? If so, it doesn't have a skimmer.

You take the media out except the activated carbon, which you can leave it in and change it at least once a month. For a reef system, you want to use the LR's as you filter bed, so you remove all the media from canister to stop nitrification bacteria colonising on the media (you want the nitrification to happen inside the LR's). For a reef system, you also need a lot of water flow inside the tank, so the canister filter is a good way of providing the water flow.
