Ive had it happen before on a different zoa and it ended up fine a while later but it happened again on a more expensive polyp and i was curious what it was and if it was bad?

ps lights are only 36watts of t5-ho. Its on a rack close to the lights

They sometimes do that cause they're either irritated by something, water parameters ... sometimes just for the hell of it.

That shape ("the mushroom") is often the first sign of impending badness. Keep an eye on it. Becoming a skinny stalk with disproportionately large head would be getting worse.
