is this camera any good?

Hi sorry for the noob questions guys I am not a camera guy but want to get something to take some beautiful pics of my tank. I use my phone for pics now but I found this add on craigslist can anyone tell me whether this will do what I want and is 300$ a good deal?

It's not a bad camera, but pretty old. I think you could pick up something like a 40D for not too much more money. Even the 40D is at least 5 years old, but I know I still own one, and have no plans to replace it anytime real soon. As far as a good deal, you can get the body for under $150 at Adorama or B&H Photo, and the lens runs for about the same, so I'd say no, it's not a good deal, especially since these retailers are going to guarantee their products. I'd expect to pay more like $200 if buying from Craigslist, especially for a very outdated body and a mediocre (at best) lens.

Glad you found something else, that's too much $$ for a camera that old. We bought a 30D in 2006 just as the 40D was coming out.
