Is this considered fully cycle?

If i take a small size Live rock from my 90g DT and the same water and set this up in my 20g QT would i be good to go? Is there a need to wait for a cycle or seed it? I would use the QT only as Hypo treatment if needed.

I also have extra LR i can throw into my DT.. to replace surface area lost for bacteria..

I would run with it as long as it that rock has been in your existing system for more than a couple weeks. Happens to be exactly how I set up my QT. Rather than keep it running all the time, when I do happen to bring something home I grab a couple rocks from the sump of my FT, use water from the same, plug in a heater that is already set to the correct temperature and a HOB filter.

That's not to say that you might not have ammonia issues. I do a preemptive water change every day from the FT just to keep things stable.

I use a the HOB filter sponge. I leave in the sump and then use it in filter. works great.

Yes but with care as a small sponge only has limited size.
