Is This Cyano?

Is this Cyano? Pulled my rocks out once already and brushed them in water that was siphoned out from the tank.

My water is 1.20 and I'm struggling to get it up. Using 1.26 mixed Saltwater in the auto topper, but still hangs out at 1.20.

Siphon as much out as you can with your next water change, then shut lights off for 3 days.. the turn it back on and do another water change and siphon out whats left.

That "may" be sufficient..
But in general more water changes need to be done..

What are my options other than Chemiclean? If I have to use Chemiclean, What size airatone and pump should I use? Tank is a Redsea Max C250.

Thanks. I was doing weekly water changes as I was having cloudy water since moving this tank. Was also using my old DE filter to try and clean the water up. I'll go to every 2-3 days on the water changes.

I have reduced light time since moving the tank. Was at 12 hours and dropped to 8 hours. I'll turn the lights off for 3 days as suggested.

I waited mine out. I shortened my light on time down to 6 hours a day and continued my 10% water changes weekly and also siphoned the gravel and put my tank on a diet, reducing feedings to what I felt was minimal. It took a couple weeks but it's gone now. Every time I would do a wc, I would blow off my rocks so I could suck out as much as I can. Listen to mcgyvr... he's (or she's) a wise person and gives great advice!

The lights off thing is a bandaid. It will fix it momentarily. You will still have the reason for it to occur in the first place and it will be back.

The reason it occurs in new tanks is because you are adding fish or starting to feed more or dose coral food and your tank can't handle the exportation needs.

Find out why it happened and you'll be able to rectify it. Not saying the lights out won't work it definitely will. But if you don't change what caused it, than it will be bacj

Here's what I found to have helped for me (in THIS order):
1.Lights OFF (NOT A BLACKOUT- there's a difference) for three days and blue lighting ONLY the day after the third. This is what sk8r advised me.
2. Add ChemiClean afterwards, as Mcgyvr says (follow directions EXACTLY - do NOT overdose) and,
3. Add some PRODIBIO BIOCLEAN bacteria and food vials to your tank right after your next water change. These bacteria SHOULD be starting to outcompete the Cyano after a few biweekly doses.

I did this and within a month -
BYE BYE CYANO!

Why not a blackout?

Today marks my 3rd day of no lights. Do I need to adjust my amount of time I turn the lights back on? With the RedSea I only have one light switch, so if I have to have only the actinic, I'll have to pull out the other bulbs to do so. I did a pretty big water change 3 days ago, right about 30 gallons worth. Do I do 10% changes (~5 gallons) going forward and what frequency?

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in here. I was SUPER DUPER skeptical about ChemiClean, even after a trusted person at my LFS suggested it to me. After trying everything for 2-3 months, I treated my 9 gallon nano, and true to everyone else's experience, it was completely eliminated within 48 hours. I used no additional airstone beyond my filter and powerhead (which i put close to the surface).

No deaths, no drama, just dead cyano. Tank is bouncing back wonderfully now.

Nice thing is that I have plenty in case it ever decides to come back.
