That anemone is not photoshopped. The reason why it looks so colorful is because all of its zooxanthellae is compressed together because the BTA is shrunk. I wish I could see a picture of the BTA fully inflated.

I agree with this completely. Well, except it's actually not zooxanthellae that give it the color (zoox is/are golden brown in color) - it's accessory pigmentation. But, with some good lighting (strong blue/UV lighting mixed in to maximize the flouresence) and the shrunken tentacles, you have a very colorful anemone. It would be very telling to see this same anemone expanded in more "white" lighting.

FWIW,
Kevin

Yes your correct about the pigmentation. I forgot, zooxanthellae is usually a brown color only.

totally right, my rose bta is fairly colorful, but if it shrinks up to expell waste etc., its color is MUCH more intense. that aside, I think that color is right on, I've seen BTA's this color plenty of times, its not photoshopped, though white balance settings on a camera can exagerate colors. and I certainly don't know why everyone thinks it looks so unhealthy, just looks like its shrunk up for some reason, could be expelling waste, or likely, extra light on the tank to help take the picture caused shrinking reaction. they probably posted a shrunken rather than normal picture of the anemone for the same reason you looked at it, because the color is more vivid

Based on its short stubby tenticles it is starving. Even if it is expelling waste the tenticles should be longer than that.
