Heys guys (and gals),
I have a simple 15 gal hex set up with just LR and a ocellaris and wanted to start adding softies (zoos, leathers, xenia). I have a 20" 96w PC (Coralife) over the tank and i was wondering if this will be OK to use. the farthest the corals will sit from the light is 16 inches. also, would this be ok for frogspawns, hammers and brains? sorry for the ignorance, i am a seahorse guy who is new to corals :) .

96 watts over 15 gallons will be ok to keep the corals you listed above. I would try to get a combo bulb that does both actinic and 10000k.

The 96watt PC bulbs I have are 3 feet long. Are you sure it is 96 watts?

Yes sir, like the poster below you stated it is the powerquad. 96w 50/50 with two actinics and two 10,000K bulbs. Thanks again for your help but I guess my next question is which corals will not be able to live under those lights? i am guessing things like acroporas and brains? how about clams?

in my experience, you can keep acropora under power compact lights, but they will brown out and not keep any really nice color. if you are lucky you might be able to keep some green coloration in acropora, but not blues or purples. i dont think you will want to try a clam without metal halide lighting. brains should be fine.
