is this fish OK

They are filefish... They feed on Acro polyps... They should be fine with Zoanthids... The color wouldn't matter...

I've been to an LFS in Clearwater, FL that has had success keeping them fed on mysis...

Maybe for months at a time, but even when they eat they usually still starve to death, just more slowly.

They will onlyu eat acroproa polyps, without them they will starve.

Not true about all filefish...
The diet of Filefish varies within the group. The majority of Filefish feed on algae and crustaceans. Only one species feeds exclusively on live coral polyps It just happens to be the one above! Most Filefish do extremely well in an aquarium.

So... maybe not the best buy!

I am aware of that. I was simply repling based on the fish in question here, not on all species of filefish.

I figured you knew about that!! I should have quoted the one above your first post.

I wanted to make sure that he and others knew that not all filefish feed exclusively on SPS polyps.

I have a jade green filefish that has been a model reef citizen....so far =)) ( 4 months) . I had one of those orange spotted ones when I was a newbie, yeeeeeears ago, and it perished due to no acropora, im sure.
Good Luck, Scott
