this is when i first got them the one in question is to the right.they were bought as a pair,hard to tell i know.
this is what they look like now.im guessing the female is the right one and male in question beaing onxy is left.
 
Technically speaking, the only true "onyx" clowns come from the C-quest line of melanistic perculas. All others are just perculas with more black than most.

Even among the C-quest line, it is arguable as to what constitutes an onyx and what doesn't. Some people say they must have a black dorsal. Some say there should be no orange on the body other than the face and just below the pectoral fins. There are some people that will call any perc with lots of black, and onyx.

Bottom line....... If you want to call your fish an onyx, There's really nothing stopping you. I've seen fish with less black called onyx. There is no standard that's been set for all of us to abide by.

An Onyx clown is a A. percula with black connect all three stripes. For some people, the dorsal fin have to be black also. They just have more black than normal A. percula.
