Is this H. Mag too big for my tank?

It was ordered from Cali and shipped to the east coast. I was told is was about 14 inches fully spread out, but once I personally measured it turned out to be 14 inches folded up and and about 20 inches fully spread out. ><

If it spreads more it will fly out of your tank

I've had a few people pm me about which store I got it from. I wish I could help out, but my LFS ordered for me and won't tell me which supplier he used. He wanted to make sure he was going to get his mark up profit from the deal. He really can get in nice stuff if anyone is fairly close to Greensboro NC. Store name is Triad ReefCritters.

He is a little too big for that tank. You can always Frag him, once he adjusted and healthy

He's been in there for a little over a month with no problems so far, so I hope he's settled and happy. I don't think I could ever bring myself to frag him. I'd be too scared ><.

Boy, that is a big one. Looks healthy, but tentacles are quite short. As it settles in, not only can you expect it to spread out the base, but the tentacles will get longer. My mag has a base about the same size, but tentacles are 4 plus inches long. I agree with Minh, I think you may quickly find your tank to be too small.

That's a really nice and healthy Mag. You're lucky to have gotten one in such good shape given the shipping distance. Either way, nice catch and good luck with it! If I were you I would start looking into a nice 60-70G cube and keep that your centerpiece.

yup, that's what I plan on doing. I'm working on plans for a 30 x 30 x 20h 80g cube.
