Is this lateral line disease?

New tang...in QT by itself for about 2 weeks. No copper, just observation so far. I'm not for sure, but I think it's lateral line is getting brighter. It could have been this way since the beginning and I'm just beginning to notice. Water quality is OK except nitrate is somewhere between 2-5..so I'm doing a water change tomorrow anyway.

The lighter yellow on the side of the tang is normal. HLLE is caused by stray voltage, carbon dust and poor diet. I'm not seeing anything that looks like HLLE, google some pictures.

It's Googling and Binging images using 'yellow tang lateral line disease images' that got me posting in the first place. It brings up lots of pictures that look like my yellow tang, but at the same time, 'yellow tang images' bring up the same images. So it confused me. Thanks for sorting it out for me.

So I was thinking that his "horizontal" line getting whiter was the problem...but it's not that at all? It's the vertical separation around the gill line or splottiness around the eye that is the key indicator?

My tang is nice and dark yellow.

HLLE will be lines of mostly pale skin that travel down the body length wise, typically on the top 1/4 of the body. It will be very apparent, the different color yellow on the side is normal. Spots around the eyes can be HLLE or Hole in the Head disease which is more commonly found in angels
