Is this normal behavior for a female Maroon Clown?

What, accepting a host?
Maroons are one of best and fastest to do so IMO.
Lots of things make great subs for nems, that GSP, frogspawn, hammer...

Thanks for the reply. :bounce3:

It appears she really wants an anemone to play in, but I need to do more research on what anemone to get and how to care for it properly.

Well, post specs, params, time up, lights, for best advice there.
Natural to want a host, but don't think a nem is only option, in fact sometimes they just don't fit certain tanks, or can be a pain to keep from touching corals.
I ended up doing a nem species tank for this reason, and in my sps tank my clowns are hosted by frogspawn, a whole lot easier for a mixed reef.

N00b question time. What's "nem"? Could find it on the RC acronym list. :D

When I get home after work, I'll post the params and details of the tank.

Thank you.

Bubble Tip Anemone is the natural host for Maroons. They are among the easiest to keep as well, but your tank should still mature/stabilize for well over 6 months before adding one. They do need adequate lighting and benefit from occasional feedings of meaty morsels such as silversides or mysis shrimp etc.

Normal behavior for a maroon? I don't think mine has ever been 'normal' ;)

I've kept mine with a BTA (bubble tip nem) for 2 years now under PC's in a 24gal tank. It is getting about the time to move everything to a bigger tank though.

I've found that my nem likes scallop meat the best, followed by shrimp. He really doesn't care for any fish I give him.

Mine hosted in my hammer for a year before I bought a nem for her, as soon as i put the nem in the tank, she ran into it before it had even opened up fully. then she also became very territorial, she wont let me put my hand in tank as she will bite no matter what i'm doing.

I second jksteele on the territorial front, my male oscellaris clown wont let me even clean the glass now without nipping at me, which only tickles, but still scares the bejesus out of me!
