You guys are wasting your time with this one.....and once again from a bunch of people that dont actually know all the information and dont stop to realize that a 12yr old is not able to discriminate between what another thinks is funny and a message that speaks of his true manner and paints a clear picture that shows you he is let do whatever he wants for his own self absorbing and no adults in his life are even coming close to whats considered responsible parenting or maybe just dont know better.....

your fueling of a child that has no regard for marine life or information given from knowledgeable adults like Bill and others is actually irresponsible......ask him about his bragging about what he has caught and sold to the lfs..... maybe that would give him credit in ninos eyes also .....and salty ask him for a hell of a response when he tells you where he got the emperor that is in his DT.......I wonder what comebacks will come from him when his self incriminating text about himself and parents collecting illegal Atlantic reef items and selling them to an LFS without proper licenses or permits gets forwarded to FWC ....wonder what comebacks will be like when the boat that was used is confiscated and the LFS is fined ......hope he sells enough shoes or has some good comebacks for that ....

I understand what you are saying and do not know the story behind this kid or know him personally. I DO NOT condone these practices and also would not even entertain the idea. I love this hobby as geeky as others outside of the hobby might think it is. But, he is 12 at the end of the day. It's not his fault in the way he is being raised. We need to set an example as reefers and as Fmas members. (yes I'm a paying member just don't have time to go to meetings) I think the better route with this situation is to ignore his comments and posts. Mrx nothing personal just how I see it. If everyone just ignores his post he wont post anymore.

Do you really think insulting him and his "pico" and typing lololol ol after each sentence is going to be productive? It's about as productive as me building a stand. You're a parent and a teacher you of all people should know... Don't make me the bad guy because I found comedy in seeing you argue with a 12 yr old.

This is hilarious. I don't know his back story at all. But if ur "poaching" atlantic specimens for personal and worse profit. Thats just wrong. If I ever find out who you are legitimately I will report you and your entore family / illegal operation. I have zero tolerance for scum that disobey the laws and are ignorant and arrogant about it. +1 salty.........but you should know he was given multiple breaks and disregarded them all as he listens not.....his parents came over and I showed them as much as time would permit in hopes of helping him get a good start in the hobby......well that was wasted time ....the very next week he text me a ton of pictures of very lg queans and Rock Beauty’s telling me that they just got back from collecting them and asked if they would be good for his tank and at the time he had an even smaller one than the 125 he has now and I text him back “did you learn nothing when you were here talking with me about all my large angles” .....he ignores the text and keeps sending me more picks of all the fish they had collected and I told him to stop and they should return all the angels they collected as they were not fit for his DT as they were too large and then once again he just keeps talking and not listening.....I tried to explain to him and educate him that the Rock Beauty’s had a very poor rate of survival in an aquarium it was just a fact of the species kind of like Hawaiian Cleaner Wrasses and he should immediately return them ......he says sure .....then the very next day he sends me a text showing me this very lg emperor angel he just got at a lfs (I was like ***) he then tells me he sold the lfs (which we will keep private for the moment) all the angels they caught and he bought the emperor......I couldn't believe it ...he text and says it was a deal he couldn’t pass up.....let’s forget that what he was doing was highly illegal...this was right after his previous visits, multiple post from Bill telling him his small tank was not properly setup for housing lg angels …….just a total disrespect for the hobby

Listen kid, Matt is a good person and so are most of the Fmas members. Some of their comments might come off as mean and hurtful but there good people. Matt is trying to help you out with the specific species of fish your inhabiting in your aquarium. If you were placing these fish in a proper size tank, no one would have **** to say to you about your angels. At one point or another we've all tried it and it cost us dearly seeing our little fish taking its last swim upside down or watching a 100 polyp being chewed like m&ms. Keep up the hobby and stay legit when it comes to catching fish. Read the guide lines and specifics of what you can and can not take out of the ocean. Repercussions of poaching is serious in the U.S.
Anyways little man stay positive and keep getting those straight A's

When expressing a term in adverb form you spell it as straight. So not in spelling but in grammar, yeah I did just fine. You on the other hand, should leave spelling to auto correct and spell check.

Ok its confession time, I actually don't collect at all, unless you call collecting hermit crabs at the beach fish collecting. I just wanted to make my self look more interesting when I first joined. Although I do like to spearfish, fish, and hunt. Matt the pics that I sent you of the fish were actually random pics of fish I got off of Google images. Here is a pic of my real qt tank. And Matt I am really, really sorry about what I said a couple nights ago I didn't mean one thing I said. You have a tank with fish I some day dream of having. I hope we could go back to being more like friends and not arch enemy's. And sorry for lying everybody I just felt like I was getting ignored or shunned. Could I please just get a little bit more respect. This was not meant to insult or call out anyone.

IMHO- You guys are being too difficult on this kid. He is doing the right thing in asking for advice.

He is obviously misinformed, and/or misguided.

As responsible reef keepers instead of condoning/critisizing his actions we should encourage him in the right ways.

These forums are about education not sharing nonsense.
