Is this SPS toast?

Hey all. I picked this up about 10 days ago. Looks like I have a bit of algea growing. Would you frag it up or just try to cut off the dying pieces?

Or, is it toast?

Just to be clear. It is white in color and not bleached. I don't know what it's called though.

It's not dead yet, there were some burnt tips and burnt base, but if it's not spreading, it's fine, and don't frag the burnt area because it may introduce new wounds. If it's spreading then you need to frag it, and hope for the best.

Try to keep your water condition as stable and as pristine as possible, give it some good flow and descent light, it'll recover.

Normally if the burnt area isn't spreading, I'd wait until the wound is fully recovered (i.e. the burnt tip start having coraline algae), then snap those end off to let it fully heal and cover the burnt area.
