I have this red algea that actually looks like veins growing over my rock. Is this a bad type of algea and how do I get rid off it?

Sounds like red slime. Water changes usually do the trick. Normally a sign of over feeding or you haven't done a water change in a while

It's probably red vein algae. It forms an entire circulatory system on your rockwork and could eventually burst and bleed out a red viscus liquid into your tank... better get rid of it.

FYI, I completely made all of that up.

Yeah thanks Jared, reading and started to worry. Did not see that last statement. So what is it smarty fish!!!!!

Could it be a type of sponge?
Is it only growing on one side of the rocks (ie. top-where there is more light, or the bottem where there is little light)?
Pictures?
