Is tip burn only specific to certain SPS?

As I am getting my tank back from a disaster and getting my dosing back to normal I ran across some talk of high alk causing tip burn. Now I am a little confused becuase I had always thought of white tips as bieng a sign of growth. For instance I have a huge purple stylo that looks like this one with excelent PE but all the tips are white

Additionaly I have many montis that when growing the edges are always white. So does this apply to acros only? My acros are healing and have very littel PE but no white tips.

Obviously white tips on healthy acros means growth.

White tips on acros where you can tell flesh is missing and skeleton showing means burnt tips.

Not sure what your question is? If you can see your acros are healing then you should be all good.

I guess I am not sure what burnt tips look like. I tried googling and couldnt really find any good pics.

Usually the coral at the tip begins to show tissue necrosis, and sliming is usually evident. The tips will then form algae on the dead part at the tip, it is most certainly looks different than growth.
