Is Tunze 9011 Skimmer too much ?

Hi fellows,

I will purchase a Tunze DOC skimmer to my new tank a 42g cube (21x21x21 in).

My firts choice is a 9006 skimmer but due to price and dimensions I´m consider a 9011 too.

9011 will be too much for this system ?

I´m planning to have a moderate low bioload a lot of SPS. Other filtration equipament considered are CPR nano biopellet reactor, Carbon , mechanical filter, no sand bed (toughts on Siporax).

Could you please give me some advice?

If you will have a sump, the 9011 is the way to go because it includes 9005.400 and 9006 does not, by the time you add this the price is very close and the 9011 is a stronger skimmer. If you will use it in tank, I would use the 9004, it is nearly as strong as the 9006 and much smaller.

thanks for your answer.

I don´t a sump and I don´t like all the equipments in the tank. So, I´m about to create a "in-tank" sump I mean, an black acrylic box with all equipments inside.

This box will have 13cmx53cmx53cm (I can change this to fit the cup - do you have it ? cup dimensions of 9011 and 9006).

The only difference I could see between 9006 and 9004 is height. Is that correct ?

The 9004 is also not as wide and the cup is much shorter and same dimensions as the body, it would be a better choice for this tank. I am not at the warehouse today so I have no 9006/9011 cup to measure, but I can check it Monday. I believe the diameter is 6.25" for both.

For 9004 you need 2 * 6025.501 or 1 * 6025.500 (same and cheaper, just use on half on each magnet).
