I second that. I love the Onyx I got from Rod. The hardiest fish in my tank. The only two to survive a 96 degree tank temp when my heater stuck.

yes super hardy and the bodyshape on them is amazing

Sorry Ed, I did not have a chance to take a picture of his tank...it was a surge tank. He had different types of anemones and the surge made it look so natural (movement wise)...I wish I had some pics though.
Are you planning to put a specific spot (rock) to house all your nems? I'm planning to dedicate an island type spot in my tank just for my nems and have some sort of spotlight aiming at them like the one in your sps dedicated rock....any suggestion of bulb to use and what K should I get?
Thanks in advance.

be carefull if two anemones are too close to eachother they can get into some pretty nasty chemical warfare. not always but it definetly happens.

nevermind that, I want to know how he plans to train his anemones to stay on that rock! :D

I had some success "training" my nems to stay put in one area...just give them the right flow and the right amount of light;) . My GBTA and RBTA stayed and lived harmoniously in the same rock (side by side) for years.
Here's a little proof :)

Hi Edward, can't believe i spent the whole nite browsing thru your thread.
can share with us a full frontal tank shot?
how do u construct the rockscape? using any pvc stands or drilling?

yeah, my GBTAs seem to stay put buut I'd like to see you try that with an LTA!!!

or a magnifica that will wander endlessly

My GBTA moves constantly. I think he lets me know when the water is not up to standard. He get annoyed and moves & moves & moves. In a day he must have moved 3-4 times. Then the next day the same. And he's a big bugger. He stung so many of my SPS colonies. He's got a spot now but I'll see what happens. All n all he must have moved about 20 times over 2 months.

Thanks guys for the onyx and BTA experience talk. Those onyx look like naka's. I would want something different though like the ones GSM pointed out a while back.

hawaiian, it doesnt matter as anemones and softies will look great anywhere you put them. It woudl be better to keep them at the bottom IMO for aesthetics As for the bulb.. see if you can find a 20K bulb. I've seen some LED spotlights and actually mane3215 is getting some in from Japan. Others in japan are also using the tube lighting in 20k colors which probably uses less power but im not sure how effective they are. I really like it when they use the red colors though! Some people think it looks fake, but I really love it.

russ.. I stacked the rocks together without having to use any PVC or glue. This type of rock is very easy to aquascape because of the unique shapes. You just have to turn and twist them adn then look at it from all angles to see if it looks right. :) The full frontal was on page 36. Maybe you missed it? Here it is:

Ed- looking good. i love the cardinals. any close ups of the new corals?

rod's onyx are great...we have a mated pair and they always get the attention.

eric

Im thinking about getting a 20K bulb for the middle MH which is never on. It would be used to supplement for 2 hrs daily. Im leaning towards an Aquaconnect 14K 250w SE or a 20K Radium. With the AC's, I dont need the extra PAR because I am not keeping SPS in the middle. I am just looking for something that would fluoresce those corals. I had the 14K AC's in my previous tank in the middle and loved it. But Im not to up to date on what's the ideal bulb to get today for these properties Im trying to acheive.

eric, I will get some pics this weekend of those corals. Thanks for the compliments!

Dude, It's a majority of Tonga Nuku Fusion and Fiji Ultra Premium. The big rock all alone on the left is Fiji Ultra from ReeferMadness and so are the plating rocks. The others are Tonga Fusion.

it must be nice coming home to that
everything looks great Ed, keep them pics coming.
