Islander's Old School Reef – 900 Gallon Display

Just bought a blue light filter lense for my iPhone, I thought it'd be nice for a grab-n-go tool for my new tank diary. Works pretty well for 12 dollars. Sorry for the dirty tank and hazy water, I haven't done any water change around a year already, this "holding" tank should be full of plankton and fish poop lol

Yifan/Kev,

That lens seems to do the trick. Do you have a link you can share for more details about your iphone blue light filter lens?

Thanks!

I love the light rack and plans. Sorry for the question and mainly from a personal opinion. Any chance you could add more VHOs? Similar to this? I get you have PAR covered and even Coverage but shadowing and controllability would take it up a notch.

All the other lights will overpower the VHO

I use the VHO mainly for a touch up of color as well as for blending the LEDs more evenly. The only bulb I'll use for the VHOs on the main display is Super Actinics from UVL. It is my personal favourite bulb.

Yes if I don't have enough PAR covering the tank I'll definitely consider adding more VHOs. Not easy though due to the design of the light rack.

Long time no update.

First of all 80% of the corals in my holding tank died while I was on vacation, this was due to CO2 regulator failure...... anyway..... shxt happens.... no more cheap CO2 regulators.

I am finally getting closer to cycling my tank:

First of all, moving all LR to holding tank
I did 12 cartons all by myself..... my arms are gone....

Moving washed sand into DT and mangrove tank - this part is really a PIA

Start improvising.... really didn't have the time to make a layout first and blah blah blah..... everything was done within 2 hrs. I can't afford more delays on this project....!

My theory for aquascaping is that "let the corals grow into the scaping that you want" the rocks will work as platforms for easy coral placement. The whole aquascaping is a mixture of minimalist and old school mountain of rocks.

I hope I did ok! [emoji846]

Update -

Frag tank light rack is up and running

90% of the controllers are in place - need to organize the cords though - this will take a long time for sure because I am quite OCDed with this kind of stuff lol

Coming up next is the installation for Genesis Renew metering bins and 3 LED flood lights for the mangrove tank... stay tuned [emoji41]

I don't know Tap-a-Talk but RC uses standard BB code so you shouldn't have any problem.

Here's how I do it:

Highlight the bit of text you want to quote and copy (Ctrl+c). You don't need to quote a user's entire post, just the sentence(s) you want.

e.g. UserBob said: My name's Bob and I think...

Go to the editor and paste your quote (Ctrl+v).

A quote in BB is surrounded by the Quote tag within square brackets. I add the tags plus the user's name in double-quotation marks.

PHP:
[QUOTE="UserBob"]My name's UserBob and I think...[/QUOTE]
You can also nest quotes within quotes using the same method.

Thank you Dave!!! Got it.

I am truly amazed at the level of this build. So much talent involved!

Thank you. There is really no talent. Blood and sweat? Yes :)
