Isn't that a lot more work?

Man those razors really helped!

Also I forgot I changed the direction of my power head the other day to try to get my anemone to change places. That might have ticked off the LSOH zoa's. I want them secure while I'm gone so for tonight I moved them to a frag stand and in what I think is a lower flow area.

Couple more update pics for fun

Even in my little 40g tank he's gonna be a struggle to catch. I'm ready to move him to my small tank, no problem. Catching him, however.... Lol

Well got home tonight and one of my red sea 50w lights suddenly isn't cooperating. Won't be able to troubleshoot till next weds or Thursday tho so the tank might be running on a single light for a few days.

Best way to catch a fish is after midnight when the lights have been out & fish are asleep.
Turn all the light on fully @ once, the fish are in a stupor & move Slowly, you might even have to prod them from where they sleep.
Easy Peasy.

First of all, the razor blade is a game changer 😂

Second, I noticed my colony of pink diamonds zoa's were suddenly looking really bad. I've never experienced zoa melt before but have read a lot about it and essentially it seems nobody knows what causes it, but every case I can find seems to circulate back to a pest or predator.

So I removed mine and decided to frag my healthy polyps in case it was bacterial. While doing a dip, the number of critters that fell off a single plug blew my mind. Two worms and countless small guys I could not identify without a magnifying glass...

In case you don't know, the worms are bristleworms. IMO, helpful detritivores. I remember back in the 90s when we thought we had to catch and remove every one of them. I actually add bristleworms to all my systems.

the worms themselves don't bother me, although I was quite shocked that two fell off that tiny frag that I didn't even know where there. however most of those specs you see in there were moving, I just lacked magnification to tell what they were.

I've also toyed with the idea that a fish could be doing it, as that seems to be the only real solution that others have found from melting zoas aside from zoa eating nudis or zoa eating spiders...

man I'm still bummed about losing that torch. That thing was such a great price and the only torches I've seen for sale in our area since then are like 3-4x the price. cheapest one I've seen since I bought ours was $149.99. Going to keep my eyes open though, it was really a fun addition to our tank. if I do get another one, sucker is getting concreted into location.

Oh, I have 5 confirmed polyps of the Little Shop of Horror now that have opened up. I sorta want to try moving them closer to the light as I have them down on the bottom of the tank right now for safety purposes.

I need to take some more pics.
Still haven't found another torch in that price range of my last one, but did take a chance on a small hammer frag yesterday. I didn't tell my wife, I figured I'd just put it in the tank and see how long it takes for her to notice lol.

This is a newer store somewhat close to me. If you are looking for enough frags to justify shipping the prices there are pretty reasonable. I was there two weekends ago and was very impressed with his livestock. He also has weekly auctions.
