FWIW I have BellSouth DSL and love it. Dont know if you play games but DSL beats Cable as far as latency goes which is good for gaming. I had Adelphia so I biased against cable due to my experience with their cable internet service, piece of sheiss.

One factor I dont like is having to keep pay for a land line for the DSL. But then that land line sure comes in handy when powers down for a hurricane and the cell lines are bogged down, saw that couple times in 05.

had comcast and liked it when it was working but from one day to the next i couldnt establish a stable connection even after a couple visits from the "techs". Needless to say i ditch cable and went to dsl.

latency for me is usualy 5 to 12 ms..... pretty bad. but i nevr had probloms with xbox live or eq2

Following this discussion I talked with a friend of mine about the possible cable/dsl speeds. He showed me this:

http://www22.verizon.com/content/consumerfios/packages+and+prices/packages+and+prices.htm

Verizon's FiOS service. Fiber optic to your house, $49.99 a month, 15mbps/2mbps. That's pretty fast for $50.

And that's versus bellsouth's 6mbps down and 512mbps up.

Unfortunately I believe we can only get Bellsouth down here cause Ma' Bell owns all the lines.
