Issue with 29G JBJ

Hello,

Has anyone had problems with their nano cube and the filtration system? I've had mine running for about 6 months and all of a sudden the water in the overflow area goes away and overflows the main part of the tank. I've had a little bit of algae build up, and I've also cleaned out the filters in the overflow areas, but it seems this keeps happening.
Also there's a lot of scum floating on top of the water, so I'm not sure what is happening. I've done 50% water changes, but can't figure out why the tank is stopping up and overflowing or why there is constant scum on the surface.

We have had similar problems and we think it can be traced to the original pump, try cleaning the pump or better yet replace the pump with a MJ1200. Additionally you might want to consider a skimmer, Sapphires http://www.sapphireaquatics.com/store/ AP24 seems to be the best for our Nano's, we have one on order so we will see.
