It died a natural death

Well it finally happened, my RO/DI unit went bad after 3 years of abuse. It was a 6 stage Water General unit from filter direct. I had it for 1 year in OKC, then 2 years here on my well water in Florida. My unit is hooked up to a 55gal. holding tank, the ice maker in the freezer, and a faucet on the sink, for drinking water, so it gets extremely heavy use. I know they last according to how dirty the incoming water is, but 3 years IMO is outstanding. I measured my TDS last week, and it was at 4ppm, so i ordered a new unit. It cost almost the same for new filters as for a new unit, plus my old unit didn't have a refillable DI cartridge. I got a 6 stage unit, with a new pressure tank, and a new faucet, with 1 extra bag of DI resin for $171.00 including shipping. I don't mean to be advertising for filter direct or water general, but just thought i would let people know about the outstanding service i got from my cheap ebay RO/DI unit.

LOL, Glad it did well for you.

I have been playing with the idea of an RO unit or maybe a still but not for SW but for my wild bettas and tetras.

What buffers do you add back to your SW?

Your doing well if your membrane lasted that long. With the same unit I changed my membrane out at 18 months and have to regularly change the filters.
