It happens to the best of us. Eric Borneman's tank crashed

He posted one pic of the messed up tank in the thread. All you can see is a big tank of cloudy water and a few dead coral skeletons.

12 hours after he got home

Im sure his loss is much deeper than any of us can even imagine. My tank is my hobby, his tank is his hobby and vocation. Im sure they are like children, some of his colonies he has had for years and years.

I wish there was something we could do

Maybe we should have a little fund raiser or something to get him some money to get going again. Or if any of us have some really nice corals we could frag him some next time he's here.

Just some thoughts.

If that happened to me, my life wou;d come to a stop. I can't imagine what this must feel like for him.

i lost 1200.00 worth of corals a year ago and i know how it feels to a degree but not to the degree that he has into that tank.

wait till you see the pics of his tank before

That is terrible. He has to be feeling the lowest low. I like the ideal of trying to help him. But it will probley be a little while before he does. Meanwhile, Could we do something as a club or group. Send him a card and/or flower. I know some of you probly think "what". But then is no different (or at least to him feels no different ) than a death in his family. Something to let him know that St. Louis is thinking of him.

Griss has a huge crash awhile ago as well.

Awhile ago when? Recently? Or has it been awhile? I was at his place about a year ago and all was ok, but hadn't heard anything significant since then. Was this more than a year ago?

awhile ago as in before his current tank. It occured in his 300g stock tank. It took me awhile to go back and find it

It all worked out in the end. Look at his tank now :)
At least he knew what the cause of it was.

Was that the breaker incident? He got me thinking.. that is why I planned two breakers and two GFIs to run the new system. Main return pump is on one breaker and GFI while the local circulation pumps are on the other breaker and GFI. Both GFIs could still trip or I could loose power all together, but it gives me warm and fuzzy false sense of security that I enjoy. :D

Actually, you don't want to look at my tank now. Everything is covered in cotton candy algae. I don't know what caused it, but I can't get rid of this stuff. I have started doing large water changes weekly. Hopefully I will be able to beat this stuff.

Mexican turbos will eat it George.

Yeah, I had seen a couple of threads about the stuff in other forums and after awhile folks said that they found that the turbos would eat the stuff. I had a small patch of it in my previous 26 gal tank.
