It has arrived, my new frag tank!!

kewl stuff .. I think the setup is sometimes the best part. I will be waiting to see the stand because I will be doing my own build soon. Thanks for showing

looks good! When you go to put the hose on heat the hose with a heat gun (or hair dryer) then wet the plastic nipple and push on. then cable clamp or zip ties to hold in place. if you do the zip ties make sure the tube is still nice and warm :)

Thanks for the tips did not realize to do to heat the tubes! Will be using cable clamps all the way ;)

Went to Lowes today and picked up some wood to build the stand. I bought 1 x 4 pine.
All I needed was:
2 of 12' 1 x 4
1 of 4' 1 x 4
A pack of wood screws
wood glue
And of course, some imagination (not sold in Lowes or HD :))

began by cutting some peices:
4 of 26"
4 of 16"
4 of 36"

Quick look with the tank on it, I think it looks A-OK!

Not done yet tho, I still have to make it look "complete" but not bad for one days worth of work. ;)

looking good! If you are open to some constructive advice - consider placing a matching set of supports that you have on the front and back plane on the sides - this will help spread the pressure if the top wants to move side to side or front to back while the base stays in place. as great as wood screws are, 20 gallons of water alone is 167lbs + tank+ what goes in. figure 200 pounds which if bumped into has 8 screws holding it from tipping.

the other perk is that skinning the stand (which adds a lot of strength) will be easier as you will have a surface to attach to that is a bit larger.

give me a call on finishing the edges. if you go real wood I can route the edges to pretty much anything you want. if you go plywood use the iron on edge banding (I just made a desk like that and the stuff works!)

I am always open to advice! That's a great idea Pascal, I will add extra support on the sides, thank you :) I was planing on adding some sort of top for the stand. Since I dont have a router, I was going to go the easy way and just buy some nice looking molding for the front and and side edges... but I will give you a call and we can discuss options :) I also have to figure out what I want the sides to look like, it would be nice if it was just one peice of solid wood but I dont think they make a 26" x 26" as a whole?

not bad. if you used wood glue, it should be stonger than the screws. plywood /veneer "skins" or plywood laminate skins will stiffen that bad boy up. Hd might even cut it for a couple of bucks.

yep wood glue will be used once I'm set with the way it looks. I would love to use real wood on it, if I can't find what I am looking for then plywood it is!

good call on having HD or Lowes cut the plywood. if you are nice they do very precise work.

Got my glass-holes order in today. Those guys are great 3 day shipping form CA to NY.
1/2 male adaptor, lock-line, wye fitting, and 2 flare nozzles. Oh and whats that? skittles nice bonus :)

Great Johnny, start a thread would really like to see yours as well! :) They do have awesome customer service and great products.

That tank is going to look sweet. Cant wait to see the final outcome... how many gallons is it going to be?

Update on the stand:
After putting the frame together, I took it apart put some wood glue + clamp it down for best results, screwed it back together waited overnight.
