yes directly on the glass.....these rock are extremely porous and irregularly shaped so there are very few areas for dead spots....they have basically created a system of caves along the bottom....

its just that it been my research and expirence you dont want to put rock directly on the glass. bad things can happen. FYI

BB people usually use starboard (similar to poly cut board) on the bottom-ime. that way if something falls or drops no cracked tank.

I didn't use anything on the bottom of mine, I do not believe the shop did either.

thanks for the input steve...I am going to put sand in the visible areas of the tank anyway so it won't be a true BB tank.....and if anything falls it will hit the sand not the glass....
