Does anybody know if there has been any testing of tissue samples done to look for levels of nitrogen?

The reason I ask is on another forum it was brought that tissue samples were taken after feeding like this and the tank that was fed like this had good growth for 3 wks followed with rtn of all corals. Test were done with two tanks, the tank with the feeding had 8.3 times the nitrogen than the tank not fed like this.

And no I don't see any rtn, stn or any other ning going on here. Just someone trying to deswade me I think. He tried it and had good luck but for some reason doesn't think I should. I intend to procede with caution here.

vai tranquillo, non c'è nessun tipo di problema, nè di rtn, nè di stn....evidentemente nelle vasche dove ciò avveniva i problemi erano altri...se segui le semplici regole che ho descritto non avrai problemi...è ovvio che tutto deve funzionare a dovere....luci buone, reattore di calcio efficente, skimmer adatto, movimento ecc ecc
se tutto questo funziona, l'alimentazione con il pappone non è pericolosa....basta solo controllare i fosfati e i nitrati nei primi periodi...non è difficile no???
una cosa vorrei ripete...forse vi è sfuggita, non lo sò...
quando si vuole dare 1/2 cubetto di pappone, o la quantità desiderata, è sempre meglio frullarlo di nuovo in acqua ro o in acqua della vasca, in modo da facilitare l'assimilazione di tutto il frullato...cioè NON mettete il cubetto sano direttamente in vasca, ma frullatelo prima e poi versate tutto in vasca...sbicchierando lo skimmer...dopo 2-3 ore rinserite il bicchiere dello skimmer...

queste qui sotto sono alcune foto di una splendida vasca, quella di Mario Conti, veramente bellissima...ora la vasca non c'è più a causa del trasloco che ha fatto verso settembre....date un'occhiata...lui usava l'ormone...è uno dei sostenitori più accaniti!

My recipe that I used was

5 frozen oyster
5 frozen scallops
7 frozen shrimp
12 oz bag of frozen clams
8 cubes of squid
8 cubes of frozen phytoplankton
8 cubes of cyclopese
1 pill of Six Star Body Fuel Nitric Oxide Stimulator
1 Table spoon sugar
1 ml of Enfamil POly.Vi.Sol multivitamin for babies.
10 ml of Reef Plus concentrated Vitamin & Amino Acid Supplements.
350 ml of RO/DI water.

I blended this all together. I line the ice trays with Press n' seal. This recipe made 42 -15 ml cubes. I have a total of 320 gallon of water tank. So I decided to use the ratio of 5ml to every 100 gallons.

I have dosed my tank for the third time. I have not seen any problems with bacteria blooms or anything yet. There are a couple of things that I have notices with my tank. My skimmate is black and stinks even more than before. My coral polyps are extending more during the daytime. Last, night I got home from a being in Utah for the weekend and I noticed that my shrimp had spawn. I have baby shrimp floating throughout my tank. I have not had spawn in sometime. I am not sure if this is related, but it interested me that this has taken place in a relative short time frame of starting this recipe.

As far as the bacteria bloom or of problems, I do think should tell you that I have been dosing with vodka for the pas three months (12 ml). So you still might have those problems.

I sincerely apologize, this was another person that claimed the had these results. After reading more of his thread I have come to the conclusion that he is full of caca. He claims that this is his experiment and it is being done under laboratory conditions.

I do not see any problems with any of the tanks on this thread, they are some of the most beautiful tanks I have ever seen.

Great pictures! I swear the online translations are hilarious when I see them.

I'm back from Italia on the 21st of Dec, but I have family vacation stuff going on till the 1st, so once I get back, I am going to use the method that Bisck showed me. Basically, if something is going wrong, it would probably have to do with either me not having enough flow/skimmer strength, or with me overfeeding.

Keep in mind that you should start with just half a cube like Sir said.

Secondo me, è tutto sbagliato! parlo della ricetta ovviamente....
partiamo con calma...
la ricetta classica è stata studiata in quel modo proprio per evitare di avere un eccesso di nutrienti in vasca...se io dico 1/2 cubetto, mi riferisco ovviamente al mezzo cubetto preparato con la ricetta classica e non con altre varianti....
la ricetta base, la ripeto, è :
5 cozze
5 vongole
5 ostriche
5 gamberi
250 ml di RO
1 cucchiaio grande da zucchero(saccarosio, fruttosio ecc ecc )
stop!

il resto è inutile!

12 oz di clams????????????????? sono troppe!
il phitoplancton congelato NON serve a niente..inquina e basta! al massimo puoi aggiungerlo a parte, ma solo vivo..cosi non è utile.

squid e cyclopese...?????? why???

SEGUITE la ricetta classica, per favore...altrimenti è inutile continuare con questa conversazione, perchè poi riscontrate problemi, ma non per il pappone, ma per delle cose che aggiungete voi separatamente....
con quel tipo di ingredienti, potete seguire la dose che vi ho consigliato...e cioè 1/2 cubetto ogni 100 galloni, nella fase iniziale, per poi aumentare in caso di necessità!
NON aggiungete cose che io non vi ho detto...rischiate solo di fare danni...
se non volete seguire la ricetta classica, io poi non posso sapere il motivo per cui avete tiraggi dal basso, rtn, stn ..ecc ecc
scusate se uso toni un pò severi, ma è un peccato far morire i coralli per superficialità di chi conduce la vasca.

LOL, so are we going to start looking at dosing energy drinks like SoBe NoFear and Monster since those contain creatine as well as other Vitamins...

Ciao, non capisco che significa NSW..comunque .

i valori si preferisce mantenerli alti per consentire ai coralli di avere continuamente una certa abbondanza di elementi...cosi il calcio, kh, magnesio, sr...ecc ecc sono mantenuti a livelli superiori rispetto al solito, proprio per evitare eventuali carenze...
in questo modo la calcificazione è sempre possibile, in quanto tutti gli elemnti necessari sono sempre presenti...diciamo che mantenere i valori alti, è una sorta di paracadute di sicurezza...una riserva.

According to me, it is all wrong! I speak some prescription obviously. ... We leave with calm... The classic prescription was studied in that actual manner in order to avoid to have an exceeded of nutritious in bath. ..se I say 1/2 cube, report me obviously to the means cube gotten ready with the classic prescription and not with other varying. ... The basic prescription, I repeat it, is: 5 mussels 5 clams 5 oysters 5 prawns 250 ml of RO 1 large spoon from I sugar (saccarosio, fruttosio ecc ecc) stoplight!

Hello, I do not understand that it means NSW.. however.

The values is preferred to maintain the highs to agree the coralli of to have continually a certain plenty of elements. ..cosi the soccer, kh, magnesium, sr. ..ecc ecc are maintained to superior levels with respect to the usual, actual one to avoid eventual deficiencies... In this manner the calcificazione is always possible, as ALL of THE necessary elemnti I am always present. ..we say that to maintain the values highs, is a safety of parachute of sort. ..a reserves hello
 
I am only reporting to what has happened in my tank. I am not doing this a lab. I have a basic microscope that I can give observations and not quantitative results. I did not see any more bacteria than normal. I ca not give exact numbers because I do not have the equipment to do that. All I can do is give an observation point of view.

As far as my recipe, if you were to go back to the basic Eric Borneman recipe and the recipes suggested in this threaded. I am not outside of what has been suggested. I looked at what the various people were doing and took what I thought was the best from these recipes. Where I live, I do not have available live or fresh food. So I had to use frozen. For the squid, I added that because I had 8 eight left over from my trigger that I sold back to LFS. The phytoplankton was suggested within the first three or four threads if I remember right. Cyclopese was added because it is high in omega 3 fatty acids. I use cyclopese to feed my anthias. The Nitric oxide stimulator is high in amino acids that are used to stimulate HGH in humans.

I am only reporting my results. I am not exaggerating things or claiming that you need to follow my recipe or I am doing this in a lab. I think there are a lot of closed-minded people in the USA. I am opened minded enough the give a try for a year or so. I can not wait until the actual paper is leased and all this debate over HGH or Amino Acids work. This is my two cents.

actually, you could repackage it, put it in really small glass containers with an eye drop to drip it into your tank and sell it retail for 30 bucks per jar. Just NEVER let anyone know what is in it. Creatine and a Sugar source.:rolleyes:
 
3 days in on using that the "mix" and there is alot more polyp extension from all my LPS. I dont have any acros yet.

Not sure if this relates but I can visually see that my goniopora has grown in only 3 days, it went from a circular base to a long oval base. I havnt noticed anything from the monti caps and digitas and its hard to tell with frogspawns and torches when the PE is so enormous :D

Yeah Lead I was over at Bisck's house yesterday and he was pretty concerned with what you put into your tank. I think it was the amount of materials that made your skimmer go nuts and you might want to just cut back to a once a week, small feeding of the mix for the time being.

I'm going to post exactly what he said to me for the BASIC recipe for everyone else who is interested:

Materials:
5 Oysters
5 Mussels
5 Clams
5 Shrimp (NOT cocktail shrimp, the big scampi type w/o the head and the shell)
1 Tablespoon of Sugar
200mL of RO/DI water
10g of Red Algae (Palmaria palmata; Bisck uses Julian Sprung's brand)
and/or 10g of Spirulina, 10 g of Nori (spirulina is what Bisck prefers)

Methods: Make SURE that all ingredients are the freshest possbile and DO NOT use frozen foods. Make sure everything "live" is rinsed and cleaned before putting it into the blender. Put all the ingredients into the blender and blend for 5 min, wait 2min for it to cool, 5 more blending, 2 min wait again, then finally another 5 min of blending (the pausing is so that the solution doesn't get too hot and "cook" from the heat of the blender/blades). Pour into cube forms (approx 15ml each). Then freeze it all--you want to minimize how long everything is at room temperature together.

Usage: Start with only a 1/4 of a cube per WEEK for every 400liters of tank water (approx 100g). Be sure to measure NO3 and PO4 the next morning so that these parameters don't spike after feeding. If everything is going well, THEN you can try mixing in the amino acids in the next batch of food. The whole point here is that you don't want to change everything too fast, because nothing good happens quickly in this hobby.


I will update this soon when I find out the exact size of the cubes and the exact time when Aminos should be used (right now i think you should wait till a second batch). For now, stay away from adding any "supplements" from GNC or anything like that. Also really try to get fresh seafood for this to minimize the age of the food--this was emphasized greatly by Bisck.
