Certainly...its is always better to use products specific for aquaiums...like what I wrote for you all above.

I await the photos ;)

hey guys, sorry I've been MIA but school is absolutely nuts. I've got over 20 hours of lab a week in additon to 15 hours of lecture, then homework on top of that, so I'm not going to be able to translate much...

I was able to mix up a batch of pappone a couple of days ago and I'll see how it does. I also asked around and people are using this: http://reefstar.de/english/aminos_eng.htm

However, I can't find anyone that carries it here in the US (homework for someone else who has time).

Frankly, in the meantime just use an AA supplement from like Korallin or Salifert. They were designed for aquarium use and are liquid with dosing instructions on them.

I honestly can't say how much AA supplement to use, because everything has different concentrations in them. So it would be best (and safest) to stick with aquarium designed liquids I think.

Sir: Sto lavorando con la traduzzione per il tuo articolo. Sono molto occupato con la scuola e il compito, ma ho tempo ora.

I use a product simular to that. It's call ultra mins by fauna marin

recipe?

recipe?

I printed the recipe and took it to our local "whole foods" store, I found 100% natural spirulina Powder grown in Hawaii 100% pure net Wt. 4 oz. (113 g)

Is this the right stuff? I live in Kansas so the fresh seafood is hard to get, went to a fish store and got some frozen, got the shrimp from the Walmart seafood section, she said it came frozen.

I haven't tried to make this yet. I'm new to sps since March 2006, I have many frags and some small colony's growing at this time. I've enjoyed this thread and the wonderfull pictures. I have the first one saved as my desktop picture!

Thank you..

valerie

That Spirulina powder sounds perfect for this application.
You want one with fewest added ingrediants other than Spirulina.

I laid it out on waxed paper on a large cookie sheet in the freezer, just broke off a small piece and it isn't disolving, its staying more flat like a piece of dried algae. Did I do something wrong? I thought it was to be very tiny stuff for the corals?

I used a turkey baster and blasted it after awhile, and it disoved. I just got in a hurry I guess.

It is absolutely stunning what the Italians have achieved!!!

VIVA ITALY!!! ...and thank you so much for sharing your experiences...

I can't wait for the "article".

I think people interested in specialized fish food should check out Argent Labs., they are the people responsible for Cyclops. I have ordered spriulina powder from them 15 yrs ago when I made my own fry food with blended shrimp, spirulina, and clear jello. It is about 25$ a pound jar for spriulina.

This is the same place I purchase my coral pieces for the ca reactor, a schuran type.

They have quite a bit of interesting other foods also.

They also have a Catalog that is specifically for aquaculture, some of the size of the products will blow your mind. They send it to you free if you order something.

also, for a quick and easy way to get the cubes out of the tray, turn them upside down, run warm water over for about 10 seconds and then they just fall out..
best fo luck!
