So i have been busy setting up my tank again.
taking it slow because of work. the tank is 36×24x12 inches high.

stil busy with setting it up. need lots still. have to reinforce the cabinet.
Do the return,
Do the mounting bracket for the lights.
get sand,
get rock,
get return pump, skimmer, fuge light.

really in two minds what im gloing to do scaping wise.
Also probably going to use the bubble magnus curve 5 skimmer.
wondering if I must get the bubble magnus return pumo or a jebeo dc pump.
dont know about the reliability on the jebao pump. going to save up for two AI prime led units.
wanted to keep a yellow and red frogfish but i did some research and seems its not easy to get them to take frozen food.
then i was wondering about a tank with lots of different damsels but then again think they would maybe kill each other. dont really want to do the usual community style tank but i want to keep lots of lps and zoas.....

Looks good. Just have to figure out which direction you want to go. I generally wouldn't think of keeping frogfishes with corals, but you can do it if you keep the rest of the bioload light.

I actually love the idea of a lot of damsels, but unless you have full-grown coral heads (or replicas) for them to live in, they will absolutely kill each other, and likely other fishes as well.

Jeabo is actually considered decent for the price these days. Will it last forever? Unlikely, but that's why you're paying a big discount on them vs. other brands (eheim comes to mind).

the amount of electricity you save isint the thing i have in mind with a dc pump its the controlability that I like...
going to run seachem denitrate in a reactor and aquamedic antiphos in another reactor.
Might even run a small refugium also.

We arent spoiled for choice here in RSA when it comes to dc pumps. i will bever pay the insane price for a ecotech pump.

the way ive done the plumbing is why i will consider a dc pump.

I have never kept damsels so thats why it interests me. there is some less agresive damsels i can choose from. i do the imports at the shop i work for so its really not an issue to get a spesific species.

Like i said i dont want to do the normal fish again. Only thing i might get is an bubble tip anemone and true perc clowns. I also really like tube anemones so would like to get 3 or so different ones.

i like photosynthetic gorgonians also but the tank is to shallow for them i think.

Would probably get as many acans, blastomosas, zoas, ricordia floridas and branching lps as i can.

one thing that really sucks is we dont get any duncan corals here and would love to get one.

they only come in with aussie shipments and nobody in South africa brings un aussie shipments.

also love elegance corals but again tank is too shalliw for them.

As you can see my mind runs away with me! I feel like a woman trying to decide what toothbrush to get!!!

What kind of light is that? I'm assuming it's some kind of metal halide but I've never seen a pendant like that... Looks like those old 150 watt coralife's though....

Correct about the metal halide its a 150w Atman metal halide pendant. dirt cheap but does the job and i quite like it. I just want another colour bulb thats maybe a bit more one the blue spectrum side. would love to get two AI prime led units on here when the budget allows it.

Here is some more pics.

just got a reef octo skimmer basically for free.
Dont kniw what one it is. its a nw150 or nw200 i must just check the pump or the skimmer diameter.

This looks very clean and awesome, but with the space and effort you put into this tank, I feel like you have gone bigger.

possibly taller? I know my opinion means crap because I only have a 10G nano. But you could stagger corals better with a taller tank and have SPS on top, and some mushrooms and leather corals on the bottom.

i like the shallow tank because my arm only gets wet up to my elbow...
Also this is a tank that i had for 2years so dont want to build a new one.

I will build myself an acrylic tank later on maybe if i want to but for now i really like this. and the corals im going to use will work in this setup

yea, sounds like an awesome frag garden. Keep us updated. I wasn't sure if this was a display tank or a grow-out tank.

its a display tank haha im just into shallow tanks the one I had before this one was 30 inches and i struggled to keep it clean

I enjoy the scaping of the tank. soo. im going to add a few azuri damselfish. a pair of percula clowns, sand sifting goby. and maybe something else. but this tank is more about the corals for me ..m
