its hip to be square....

Are you sure you want bare wood that close to your sump? Any splashing or even simple bubbles from your socks could turn that wood nasty real quick.

I have all lines below the water for now. I also plan to pull the wood piece by piece and use killz on it. I just needed to get it mocked up and running

Skimmer is coming along nicely. I am also starting to dose vinegar and vodka to the tank in an effort to help everything under control again.

Just completed my second week of vinegar/vodka dosing. I will be testing the water tomorrow to see if there are any changes in my nitrates or if they are holding steady. I am dosing 4/10ml of each.

So was off work today.....been researching ATS and want to try one. Well I had some extra acrylic around from my baffles, went over to American plastics had them cut it for me. Got a piece off their scrap rack that he cut for me. They drilled a few drain holes for me and I grabbed some Weldon and stuff. Never doing this before I wasn't sure how it would go so I figured what the heck. I text George a few questions and went to town......

Letting it rest for now, George said I could assemble it all today and let it sit for a day or 2. I'm not sure how it will look or turn out for that matter, but it's DIY right!!!!

it up to test it, had a small leak in the box. Is my first time working with acrylic so I sort of expected it.
Question tho, I noticed a bit of uneven flow over the screen while I tested it. Would that be an issue at some point, and how much of one?

Corey

Hard to say from your description, but remember, the flow pattern will change with the shape of algal growth on the screen.

Yeah that's what they were saying in the scrubber thread too. I'll give it time to break in.

Here's a weird question, so I started using filter socks about a month ago with a new Bubble King skimmer. As the socks clog, the skimmer performs less. When I change out to a new sock, I notice a much drier foam and much higher. I'm still tinkering with the skimmer to find the sweet spot, so sometimes I have to re adjust the skimmer levels when new socks are put into operation. Thoughts?

Corey

I am about 1 time every 5 days, but am going to try 2xs a week and see what it does.
Thanks Dave, you always have solid advice.
