its hip to be square....

Well guys the only holiday sale I have taken advantage of was on a blue throat trigger fish for the tank. Fish is incredible looking... Will feed a bit more eventually for this fish. Wanting to add 10-15 more fish. Once I get this skimmer working or a skimmer period. Did finally get some skimmate the other day. Slightly darker than water..my iPad and photobucket aren't getting along so i cannot post any pictures.

100 gallon water change to go along with my efforts to lower nitrates. Still high but I'm still tinkering with the skimmer.

So I added a beautiful blue throat trigger fish to the tank. He's in hiding because my blue tang is picking on him!

He's shy. Not to mention even when he does show up my big blue tang is bullying him and the trigger goes to hide again. I need to have Geo make me an acclimation box. I'll get a good pic up.
I have been busy switching my sump around. It was under my tank and I removed it and relocated it behind the tank. Some of my equipment will now go under the tank and I'll have full access to my sump. Let me tell you the debris that was in the sump was nasty. No wonder my nitrates are high. With the old set up I had no way to use a filter sock or vacuum it out. Now I can.

By pulling the sump out I am allowing myself easy access to it so I can clean it and run filter socks it also allowed me to put other equipment under the tank. CaRx, ato bucket, media reactor and store my salt there too.
Here are the drains running into some filter socks. Big thanks to GEO for making me a contraption to use filter socks with 1 day notice!! I zipped over to the shop and grabbed it from him.
Hopefully this will help out.

So far having the sump out from under the tank is nice. I can use filter socks and change them easily! Right now I am changing them about once a week, but am not running a skimmer right now. Waiting on a new one. :D

5 days of use on that filter sock. It is brown quickly. I do try and blow a maxi jet on the rocks daily to help out.

I'm excited to get it running

Hows the bluethroat doing? I tried a tip from SunnyX when adding a new fish and it worked like a charm. Place a mirror on the side of the tank that the tang likes and he'll flash at it all of the time instead of the new fish. Keep it there until the new fish is comfortable and eating. Worked really well for me this week after adding an angel that my blue atlantic tang was picking on.

Thanks man!!! I will have it running tomorrow. I just need a stand to out it on in the right water depth. I also added a marinepure block yesterday. Similar to siporax we have talked about, I'll give it a try.

Did anyone get anything cool reef related for Christmas????

:bounce3:You have no idea how excited I am about the skimmer!!:bounce3:

There are some more corals too. I'll try to get pictures posted.
