After, but I do have one before as well. One pump actually broke on me because it sucked in a piece of a filter pad. I don't use filter pads but i ordered pods online and they come in a bag that has a filter pad. I didn't want to sit there removing each pod sine I ordered 2000. To make along story short it got sucked into the pump, once the impeller couldn't turn for too long while still getting power the motor burnt out. I then got another pump and it took literally 4 min to install since i had the true union ball valve.

Right. I have one true union b4 the pump and one after. I'm debating on where to put it tho since I'd like to feed my BRS dual reactors and anything other that a skimmer down the road. I'm switching my barracuda out for a goby gold this week I believe. Little less pump and maybe more quiet as the pump IS in my living room.

The barracuda gold is energy efficient for its size and runs very cool but is is NOT quiet. Make sure whatever you get is super quiet, especially in a living room. I think the barracuda is loud because its too powerful to be used in an application that is near the tank anyway.

Yea I agree. The guy local to me was just selling it SOOO cheap I had to grab it. The goby gold is quiet from what I hear. I'll figure it out.

No real big new news. Just ordered some salt from dr foster. Also ordered some diodes from reefbreeders to change out the colors in some of my fixtures.
I'll post pictures of doing so. I'm also going to lumber yard this week to try and find some straight boards.

Well I'm tinkering with the idea of a calcium reactor too. I know I won't need one anytime soon but I am thinking of getting one while I have a chance.
Never used one before am researching them a little bit. Seems the regulator can make everything easier.. Is that true??

Regulator is a must have in order to control the co2 bubble count. Too much co2 will melt the media fast and send your levels sky high.

MTC (marine technical concepts). I have the procal ca reactor. He's a local guy here in NJ but many people use them and love them. I just switched back to 2 part dosing for a couple of reasons. 1.) my regulator just died and with the possibility of moving I didnt want to invest anymore money in equipment and I already had my ghl dosing pumps that I held onto. 2.) I had been thinking about making the switch back because for the last year I have been trying to keep my ca and mg levels where I want them and no matter what I did my ca would always drop to 380 and mg to 1200. No matter how many adjustments I would make or buffers I would add...I could never maintain my target levels without having my alk go sky high. I am seeing others with large tanks making the switch back to dosing for the same reason. Since going back to dosing my levels are spot on and I am very happy with the results. I will hold onto the ca reactor and maybe add it to this system as demand grows or add it to the next tank if we move.

Yea I have a friend here who uses lime, a reactor and a very very small amount of 2 part. He can't use one and keep up demand so all 3 work for him.

My tank will be lps so I hope to be able to maintain w just the reactor

I will have some SPS. The reactor is for an experiment mostly ill go more into details once I get it in my hands. :lol:

Ordered my lumber today. They are gonna even cut it for me and gave me a discount since a fellow reefer works at the lumber yard

I'm hoping 2 more weeks. We haven't even started it yet. I was cycling the rock first etc. it had some nitrates higher than anticipated so we are just taking our time. I hope to get acrylic in next week and then get it going. Hope to have my skimmer too.
