Guys. I finally decided to upgrade. I just picked up a deep blue 75 rimless! Don't know what the heck I'm going to do with it as of yet. lol need some ideas on sump and skimmer since I have never had to deal with this since my nano has been running with only filter floss for the past 5-6 years. Lol. Want to try and keep a basic sump. Small as can be with just a skimmer. No refugium. Like I said I have had success keeping my nano very easy and want to continue this tank like that as well. I was even considering taking out overflow all together and going simples. Maybe with a tunze 9004 and a tunze 3163 filter hung on back.
I kind of want to try something weird/different. I really don't care for sps or fish.
I like my current nano and everything that is in it. But I always wanted another set or group of clowns which are the only fish that interest me.
What I am planning is building a rock wall or just placing black eggcrate to separate tank into two. 24" wide each side. The DP overflow is located in the middle so both sides get drained. Then keeping my current nano set up on the right side and the left side settting up a rbta/bta side with 3-4 clowns. And maybe a fish or two more.
Sounds corny maybe but thats what interests me and the reason I never really upgraded cause I don't want any big fish such as tangs etc
I will keep you guys posted on what the heck I decide.

Lol. You guys always welcome.
Hey Jarret. Where did you get that acid for rock? How long you let rock sit in it for. And what did you do to rock after. Rinse. Dry?
I'm going to be asking all you a bunch of questions. Be ready! Lol

I just did my rocks I got a gallon of that stuff from Home Depot for like $8 a gallon. I let it sit until it stopped fizzing and then I took the rocks out scrubbed it with a brush and rinsed the rocks then I let it soak in water for 24 hrs then let it rdy for 48hrs. Rocks look white and good to go. Hit me up if you need help with anything.

Hey guys. I think I'm going to need help building a stand. They 75 rimless I got came with the factory stand. I was trying to make myself believe it sturdy but I wobbles like crazy. I don't know how this stand hold all the weight!?! It's scary.
Going to asking Dr Harry if he could help me out. Bad part is that I never built anything before so I am a lil worried. Lol

Hey, I didn't have much sound building experience and Doc fixed me right up!

As far as your design goes...I would think more on whether or not you will actually like the look of a tank divided by egg crate, and how you will secure it.

Keep in mind the eggcrate will quickly gain algae-green, brown and the purple coraline.

Congrats either way!

Update. So I decided to build my own stand. I was super scared at first. I panicked and texted Dr Harry to help me! But I sat myself down and pictured it in my head and went for it. Here are some pics

With doors!! The best part is the stand came out level! The stand was designed by me. It was made with all 2x4's screwed in with 21/2" screws and reinforced with brackets. For the side panels and doors I went with 1x4 strip of wood to give it a rustic look. I'm going to stain it ebony. I'm going to paint the inside with white appliance epoxy paint.
Have to thank my dad for helping me out.
Hope you guys like it

In regards of the acid for cleaning rock. Do you place rock and acid in regular tap water or ro water? I saw Jarret thread and it looks like he used tap. And after cleaning rock do you let it sit in tap,ro, or saltwater water for 48 hours?

I may be trying to acid clean my rocks too. Then custom drill them. My nitrates are higher than they should be considering my fish and feeding load.

Julio looks awesome. Can't way to see the finished product! Congrats Bro! I know you been wanting to upgrade for a long time.

I'd rinse it in regular tap water

So u bleached also? How the heck you do that. I read so many different ways. You have to dechlorinate/ baking soda.
How you did yours
Sorry for questions

high base to bring up ph from the acid I bet.

Do you/your dad have good outdoor space?
When we were at Jarrett's we stood back pretty far. There is a lot of bubbling action.

Yea. My parents yard is pretty big. Going to do the acid bath this week. Not sure about the bleach bath afterwards though.
