Nice looking tank :D

What are the green corals in the second shot in the second post (with the tang's nose pointing at them)?

Very interesting tank....I like it a lot. I have been contemplating doing a bare bottom tank for a while and I really like it.

Are you not afriad of the rocks cracking through the tank ??

I want a BB so bad but I'm scare stiff the glass will blow out I just had new Hard wood laid last thing I need is a blow out

What would be the difference if there was 50+ pounds of sand on top of the bottom then rocks on top of that?
Hell ya if a rock fell there is much more of a chance of cracking the bottom but if you set up your tank right I don't seen any more chance of your tank cracking vs. if you had sand.

when I first set the tank up I had black starboard on the bottom but quickly found how easy it was for the detrius to buildup under the board. As far as breaking the glass thats something you always have to be watchful of. Fortunately I was able to find rock pieces that lock together really well with one another. But I have to admit I am EXTREMLY careful when I go in and blow off the rcoks with the turkey baster.
A funny side story ......I actually walked into my lfs a few months back only seconds after the owner dropped a rock the size of a grapefruit through his 600 gal tank! What a mess. His mistake was there was nothing under his tank for support, that is to say that the rock went directly through his tank and then through his sump and onto the floor. At least my tank is sitting on 2 pieces of 3/4 inch plywood with another 1/2 inch of corkboard directly under the glass bottom. This way if I do drop a rock i think the glass will just crack and not break through.
