It's time to play....."ID That 'Horse"!

They look nothing like my H. Erectus and look an awful lot like all the pics of Reidi I have seen.

But with that being said- Wow, are they pretty and happy looking!

I think erectus is very possible: probably fairly young specimens, from whatever habitat/environment that produces those bizarre color variations. They certainly act and hunt like erectus, and are morphologically consistent with erectus.

They are most likely H. reidi, they have a much longer nose then erectus as well as erectus always have a series of colored lines radiating from the eye to the gill cover. I've had both, and the noses on these are like reidi, when you have the 2 next to each other in real life (photo is hard because of perception and scale) there is no mistaking between the 2.

You are probably right, but that longer snout can be deceiving, particularly because some erectus seem to me to have noticably variable snout lengths. The radiating lines might, I thought, be obsured by the aberrant colors. I've seen solid red erectus thar way. Still, you are likely correct, since I have only limited experience with reidi, seeing them often on the reef, but never keeping any. The seahorses in the film clip are also thin like reidi, which is why I speculated they might be young erectus which are also slim bodied.

I've observed, collected, and maintained many erectus, breeding and raising a few of them at one point.

On another topic, I greatly admire the Atlantic Longnosed BF in your avatar box. I've had a few of these fish, all hand caught by me. They are, without doubt, one of the hardest fish to catch. They are a beautiful, wonderful fish, and I hope to get another one someday.

ackee, that is my favorite fish of all, I collected that one myself as well, there are tricks to collecting them, and I have good luck once I see them.

i breed southern erectus and have owned a pair of reidi so I'm going to have to vote for Reidi also. Those are some very pretty horses btw
