I've got...hiiiigh hopes.. Can this beast turn into a Beauty?! (efflo)

Soli tend to grow longer branches on large colonies. Efflos will keep on tabling out and stay kind of flat. It is really the only way to tell. A lot time soli frags will look like valida or nana frags since most people with frag a 1 inch branch. After time, Soli will grow with the flow and table out as well.

I think I have a similar efflo frag that came from sanjay's tank. I have had it about a month and the colors on mine are a little brighter with more purple on the tips. It has the same growth pattern though.

I always thought this was a Soli. Now you all have me wondering. Came to me mis-mounted from LFS.

Honestly just looking at the RIM doesn't make it an efflo or a soli

The difference between an efflo is this

Soli = Axial corallites are tubular and distinct

Efflo = Axial and radial corallites are not differentiated; all have sharp rims.

There is more but that is the key. One have round tubular corralites, the other has sharp edges.

So with that said, I would guess based on the above information that the one above is a soli..mine as well most likely.

man that is what i want an efflo that just grows don't care much if the color comes and goes just want it to branch out like a big plate nice pics guys

Those are great pictures Mammothreefer thanks for sharing those coral skeletons. It really helps to see the differences between species that is so often overlooked.

I've got this brown piece of efflo frag from LFS some 3 weeks ago:

Right now it looks like this - it's shown some improvement on coloration, hopefully in another few months time it'll turn into a real beauty! :)

mammoth reefer....i believe what you have is a true efflo.....mine was solid brown when i got it but has now colored up very well....mine seems to like high light....the best color i ever had out of mine is when i switched from halides to t5s awhile back ago...actually all my corals were better looking but now im back with halides again...for a table acro, mine seems to be extremely hardy....nice piece you have snagged up...

Hmm I hope so. I haven't had much luck with it to be honest.

My other "efflos" are all doing amazing in lower light the one picture in this thread. I've got them all pushed off to the side or down low. This one however is as a brown as can be it lost all the blue in the tips. It's not unhealthy just shows no signs of any colour.

I have these 2 "low spots" as I have a mess of 3 different pendats over my tank, and the middle sides get the least amount of light while the back, and front and true center gets the most
