Jadette's 140g Rimless Build Thread

Picture don't do this tank justice ...

Hey! Are you ripping on my photography skills??!?!?! I see how it is...

;)

Hope the colonies thrive in your tank. That yellow scroll was my first SPS ever. I acquired it back in 2006. The Season's Greetings I've had since 2008. I will miss them, but they'll have much more room to grow in your tank than in mine, and I can now finally clean all three visible sides of my tank!

I'm probably not going to update this thread much from here on out. Just transferred a lot of frags from my sump to my display and I really want to wait for them to grow out a bit more before posting new pics.

Hahaha
The rate your corals are growing that will be 2 weeks.
Guess what broke in 4 piece during transport ?
It's not what you will expect ...2006 :)
2008 on its perfect location now with a lot of red polyps extension.
Anyway I know my acropora will be @ its brightest now that is in your tank and it will at their best ever.

I stick to my easy SPS as I love fish more than anything else in this hobby and your passion for anthias rub on me too. As the fish crazy people in elk groove will say 1 fish per gallon.:)

Thanks again.

Daves right off the 101. Im guessing west of unique but east of the 101
Unique would be due north of Daves. His house is just west of 405 and south of 101 and unique is just west of 405 off Sherman Way. Driving time from one to the other I would put at <10 min. Hope that helps

I haven't seen Shirley's tank in person, but the frags that were sent to me were phenomenal. Beautiful milles! Can't wait to see the tank in person one day!

LOOK at the size of that mystery !!!! its go great to see him again haha:wavehand:

Nice build! Just curious, what are your exact dimensions of the tank? I saw on your op it was 60x30x20. Did Lee Mar really build the tank with 1/2" glass? I tried to get them to build me one and they required that I had to get 3/4" glass due to bowing of rimless. Does your tank bow at all?

I think Charlie @ fushtankfactory built this next masterpiece and I doubt it bow since Shirley is very meticulous about any thing and everything about her tank.

By the way, your tank is just beautiful!!

Thanks Rik! Looking forward to meeting you at a future SFVR meet.

Did they survive the shipping mishap Kenny?

I lost the mystery for unknown reasons last month. :( Don't know if it was old age or ? I got him from you about 4 years ago? He just out of the blue stopped coming out to eat and slowly just withered away in a course of a few months. So sad. :(
this tank look so beautiful bro

Thanks bro :)

She not a bro

I agree she have the nicest tank in so cal

Lawrence - The way you are always promoting my tank, I feel like I should be paying you commission. ;)

Thanks! You are correct that Leemar would not do 60x30x20 rimless with 1/2" glass anymore. I had to go down to 60x30x18. I was skeptical at the shallowness at first, but I do not regret going with 18" at all. I love the fact that I can look down into my tank without a stool. Also, I like to sit on a bench in front of my tank and stare at it. I will do this for hours on end. Most people like to view their tanks standing up, but I like to view it sitting down - with my face against the glass - like a kid outside a candy store window.
At 18" tall, there's absolutely no bowing at all. Leemar did an excellent job on my tank. The silicone seams are perfect. I have another rimless tank in my house done by Visio and the work done on the Visio is just plain sloppy in comparison.

Yes! I did get the tank from Charlie and the Fish Tank Factory. Highly recommend him!
I don't think I'm meticulous about everything. I'm just anal about some things. ;)

One thing I'm anal about is the look of frags in my tank. I really wanted to avoid placing frags in my main display b/c I really hate that "pieces of bubblegum under the table" look on rockwork. But the frags that I got from Mr. Coral earlier this year were not doing well in my sump. Now that I have them in my main display, those wild, fresh cut little frags that I got from Mr. Coral are turning into little gems!

Here's a pic of one that I got from him. Just so fuzzy with beautiful blue tips on a mint body. Is this a tenuis?

It will be nice to meet you too Shirley. I actually made it to last Sundays meet.

I also do the same as you. I have a bench and I just sit and watch, with one exception...I keep magnifying glasses on my stand. I learned that from Larry Hawk years ago. He had one on his stand and I've been doing it ever since....viewing the tank in macrovision. Highly recommended. I look forward to seeing yours in person. And that mint with blue is quite nice!! Looks like a tenuis to me

Since I suck at taking pics of my tank, here's a lil' video of it! Watch in HD to see my crappy sandbed clearly!

Awesome video Shirley! That's a bunch of fish! Can't wait to start restocking my tank with more.

Your corals made it fine. Even with the mishap, they showed really good pe within a couple hours. Thanks again!

Thanks for the encouragement guys!

Mike - The clam is about 10-11" long. When I bought him about a year ago, he was 7". It doesn't have amazing colors, but I like its pattern, and I love how his mantle curves.

I would like to add one more clam - Something with crazy colors. I picked up a black maxima about 6 months ago, but it died almost immediately after introducing it to my tank. :(
