January ORCA meeting!

Fill me in how do the frag auctions work, kust bring in the stuff and its handled or do we set base prices, do we need to tell anyone what we are bringing, does anyone auction fish?

Hey Bojangles, no other club memebers allowed...you'll steal all our great ideas:)J/K!!!!

Anyone is more than welcome to show up...please join us, the meetings are absolutely wonderful and I'm sure you'll have a great time. Usually about 40-50 people show up, but from the sound of all the people talking here, some of whom I've never met, it may even be bigger this month.

FF13, you just bring frags(preferably pre-marked for description) and they are inputted into the auction list. Everything starts at $2 and goes from there. 1/2 of what the auction sells for goes back to you and 1/2 goes to help maintaining the club. No, you probably won't get rich from the auction, but it frees space in the tank for more frags, it makes you a little money to either save or spend at the auction, and it helps the club continue to have these meetings, the big events(SRC), the trips(ORA), etc. Usually you will not see a frag go for more than $20, unless it is a blue tort or something of the sort.

Thanks sounds good to me, Not sure what frags the wife wil let me part with yet... shes in the process of builkding her own tank and gets first dibs but im sure i can rustle up something. Thanks and cant wait to meet you there!

since there is a thread about this meeting, do I just register there or do I have to pay an online fee or what? How does this work. Or do I even have to register for anything at all?

Im new to saltwater, but in the process of setting up a 75gal tank. ORCA sounds like a good organization, I am planning on making it to this meeting to check it out/join. ----Eric

An ORCA meeting would expose you to some good information/discussions/experienced members. Not to mention, I am sure flfirefighter13 and you would have something in common to talk about.
