japanese chocolate anemone?

Is this what it looks like but different colors?
DSC01360.jpg

Someone has one of these but it is brown with white bulb tips and is calling it a Japanese Chocalate Anemone but this is just marketing b.s. since they are not actually anemones but a form of corallimorph or mushroom. There are several different color morphs of these guys and each are generally reffered to as anemones and given some designer name like Sunflower Anemone or Japanese Chocolate Anemone. The one pictured above came to me as a sunburst bulb anemone. They are also mostly coming from indo-pacific waters and not Japan. They are non-photosynthetic and need to be fed similar to anemones. They have a very potent sting and can catch easily catch fish.
They are somewhat rare and are not readily available outside of CA.

so they dont need light? should i get it out of my main so it doesnt eat fish? maybe i'll put it in my frag tank when i get that up

I have mine under an overhang and it does great. I feed it frozen Krill and silversides every couple of days. I have lost 2 fish to it thus far so be careful with them.

some dude had a snowflake hosting in one i hope that clown is still alive

My Picasso tried to host in it but it didn't take so it now hosting in my BTA. I didn't notice any damage to the clown but I would say that their sting is similar to that of a Haddoni Carpet.

No, that was someone else. It only tried hosting in it for about an hour and has never went back to it.

ive seen all of my 4 clowns in it at some point and they seem fine, but but my smaller black clown is the only one who is in it consistently seems like he enjoys it

i did notice that the tentacles are very sticky, so if a fish touches one they will be stuck or stung to death?? what fish did u lose? i got a black tang can it kill that?

It killed a big Scotts Fairy Wrasse. The wrasse was being harrased by another wrasse so it was probably weak from stress but I came home to find it stuck in the tentacles and barely alive. I also lost a Bangaii Cardinal to it as well. I moved it under the overhang because my fish generally do not go in this area. I haven't lost a fish since.
