Japanese Dragon eel arrived with cloudy eye

Bought a 20" Japanese Dragon eel from BlueZoo aquatics and it arrived yesterday well packed in 4-5 gallons of water.
Residing alone in a 72x24x24 tank, huge sump with LR and Reef Octopus skimmer. Gyro 150, Mp40 and a MP10 in the tank for circulation. All tank parameters are normal.

To my surprise, the eel ate today, quite a few pieces of squid but I noticed that the eel has one cloudy eye. What could have caused it? Rubbing in the shipping bag? Some kind of disease? At this point should I just observe? Aside from cloudy eye, he seems normal.

Sorry bout the eye, man. Eel looks great, congrats. If it's eating, I wouldnt worry about it too much. It'll probably clear up.

I emailed BlueZoo and sent them pics, waiting to see what they say. At this point, I'm going to just observe since the eel is acting normal and eating already.

Dragon Eels are pretty resilient. I had a dragon eel that showed up missing a horn and it grew back after 6 months. Their immune systems are tougher than rhino hide. I would not stress too much since he is eating. Also try raw shrimp as part of his diet, if you end up medicating you can always inject the meds in the shrimp when he eats.

It could be just built up toxins from shipping. Ive pulled some out of some pretty dirty tanks with cloudy eyes. Just keep your water clean and it should go away on its own.

Thanks for all the advices, he is eating like a pig, every other day he begs for food but I feed him every 3-4 days till he is full. He does like shrimp, octopus, squid and fish.
His eye still looks a little cloudy, in the beginning when I first got him, it looked like this white thing was leaking out from his eye...is it possible that he is now blind on that eye?
He sees movement from the other eye but not from this bad eye.
