"Japanese" Style?

I'm no expert, but I think Japanese style is referring to the setup of the tank: rimless, cube shaped, hanging light fixture, etc. similar to ADA style planted aquariums.

Its not the tank itself that is Japanese style its the aquacaping that the tank owner is trying to arrange. The simplicity of a rimless cube does add to the feng shui look (although that's actaully a Chinese philosphy of aesthetics :)).

Might mention the halide spotting systems with various spectrums of light employed for visual effects and aestics... Open space is a feature of Japanese sytle tanks. These keepers usually research each coral and place depending on growth pattern and color. Everything generally well thought out in these type of tanks. It is bonzai art applied underwater...

It's a beautiful tank when you see it in person. This LFS is right down the street from my work. I frequent this shop on my lunch breaks :D

I have to admit the tank does have a soft wood like oriental feel from their traditional interior design for some reason.

The simplicity, level of lighting, colour and open space in the tank does resemble a lot to traditional Japanese homes.

It's Japanese style because there is Sushi swimming around in it!:lolspin:

I don't see the that tank as Japanese style. there's none of the feeling I associate with that style. The link that sfboarders posted has much more of the Japanese "rock garden" look to me.

well true "JAPANESE" style would be my old stingray tank, 220 G on the floor, and the canopy was made so the top could be used as a table lol

I think Ive seen a pic of a SPS tank like this as well, cant find pics of it now though lol
