JapanReef - 450 gallon In-Wall system

Looks like the Emperors will be fine. The BlueLine flashes around teh larger Emperor sometimes (kind of like a male Anthias) but the Emperor is not phased anymore. The Niger is hassling the BlueJaw a bit but that's to be expected.

In other news my female Clarkii is currently laying eggs. After over 4 years ths is teh first time I've ever seen her lay eggs. The male is comparatively new (the old male jumped after 4 years) and they've been together since May if memory serves me.

The Bangaiis are carrying fry again. The two are inseparable and one has a very large mouth/jaw.

The highs and lows of this hobby sure is a rollercoaster. :)
 
There is pretty much no aggression now so this has been a success so far. Will be interesting to see how the relationship between the 2 Emperors develops.

I put the Bird Wrasse in after lights out yesterday. I really do hope I see it again.

Have 24 fish in there now and teh tank is quite interesting to watch and has lots of colour. The Niger and BlueJaw are fine together. Have teh group of 4 juvi Bangaiis hanging out on the left, teh graceful Foxface Duo, the spawning Clarkii pair, the male lyretail keeping its female in check. Also funny to watch my 2 dwarf angels interact - the Coral Beauty and Flame Angel. The Flame Angel is probably the shyest fish in the tank with the Coral Beauty right behind it. They always hang out together and one day one maybe chasing the other and teh next day the other is dominant. Seems like playful chasing, never anything fast and violent. Fish list so far for anyone that is interested:

Glad to hear that no one is fighting now. I have 2 hippo tangs that are about the same size that have been chasing each other for a few months. The aggression has died down now that I moved them to my smaller tank.

I just found an Aikido club at UCF down the road from me. I am finding more info but I am really interested in joining. Also if you are a Michael Jordan fan I hear his son is playing for UCF now.

University clubs can be pretty good. Hope they have some good teachers. :)

In Singapore airport at the mo catching up on some work. Internet biz is cool but I don't really get a day off. But at least I can do that work from anywhere. :D
 
Back in Japan. Tank made it just fine. All fish accounted for exepted teh Bird Wrasse. My daughter said she saw it once last week but not since. I need to wipe the front off and then I'll have a good look for it curled up behind some rock.

LTA split again. There are 3 in its corner now. The newest split is pretty pale on one side but no doubt it will colour up.

Clarkii clown eggs look like they hatched as I don't see them.

Male Bangaii released the fry.

No aggro between triggers and angels.

Vodka up to 12ml a day.

Guess I'll be ordering those 7 Grammas pretty soon. :D

I saw the Bird Wrasse under some rocks. Sure I've seen it move a bit so it is still alive (I think).
 
I think they were a nice lunchtime snack for the tank. :)

If any made it I probably won't know for a week or so but I'll be keeping an eye out. I also have a lot more flow in the tank now so not sure if that will make a difference. Also more hungry fish. :)
 
The Clarkiis spawned again (yesterday). Looks like 2 weeks to the day. She lays eggs on the underside of a rock that juts out a bit, right in the middle of the 3 LTAs. Easier to see this time, bright red clutch of eggs. The female has to lay the eggs upside down and then the male comes in upside down to fertilise. They do about 20-30 passes like this. Quite weird to watch these upside down clownfish going to work. :D
 
Phosphate creeping up again so I dosed Phosphate Control and overdosed it. Hoping everything will be okay. I'm starting to see patches of algae that look like Calothrix which is a type of Cyano. Kind of looks like pale, string GHA with trapped air bubbles. I know many people have experienced cyano blooms with Vodka dosing but usually the red slime stuff so wonder if there's a connection. I'll do a water change and also dose Red Slime Remover. Works for red cyano so never know, might work for this too. I should also work on some new cleanup crew as there aren't many hermits or large snails left.

Didn't get the Royal Grammas yet. Kind of enjoying the time off from constant water changes and tank cleaning.
 
Yep, good stuff too. Everything is fine today. Going to see if I have some Chemi-Clean to see if it works on this Calothris Cyano that is growing at an alarming rate now.
