JapanReef - 450 gallon In-Wall system

Matt's the expert in Reefing Japonica so hopefully he can point me in the right direction. :)

So Bax, still making excuses about not setting uo that 375 or am I going to have send the boys round? :D

Hehehe ... You may have to put a hurt'n on me to get it done any time soon! :D

I have been doing a bunch to get the support equipment in final shape. And, I am very close to moving the critters out of the shop area and into two new holding tanks in my office, where I can actually see them! What a concept! :fish2:

All goes well, and the economy holds together for me, the 375 will be wet by end of summer. Best case. Worst case, I'll swap it for a DD tank, hopefully a 300 if it comes to that, that'll fit through my doors without the nightmare-ish structural effort it'll take to get the 375 in there. I'll be stoked either way!

Laurence.

I think the initial purchase should be made from the aquarium shop and then you get the safety check on the CO2 cannister. I'd get your good lady to try to find a CO2 supplier locally, someone who fills the CO2 cannisters for all those draft beer taps..... Might even be cheaper to purchase a cylinder that is used for that purpose.

Have a search on Yahoo auctions and see what you can come up with. There is usually some second had stuff on there and you can save a bit.

Here's a link with some, but you will have to register there first before you can buy:

http://search5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp...3%a5%d9&alocale=0jp&apg=1&mode=2&auccat=24198

You'll need a 5kg plus and it will last you a while.

Matt

Bax, I keep hearing about this bad economy but I ain't felling it. :D

Things went a little pear shaped for me end of 2008 but that was due to my own laziness. Shored up the ship in 2009 and all is well again.

Cheers, Matt. My wife is finishing work this month so she'll have time on her hands. I'll put her to work. :)

Been waiting for Vessel to get enough Royal Grammas but they finally came through:

Yep, time to try that Royal Gramma harem again. I could have gotten 4 from them and 3 from another place but I've good luck with Vessel so wanted to wait.

Going to try Cupramine this time as my last attempt at hypo'ing 10 of 'em resulted in a 100% loss. But I was a bit green back then. ;)

I also found out how to get CO2 locally so ruh roh Reactor time probably after I get back from 3 weeks in the UK in June/July if everything is still alive. :p

Sweet little harem there ND. :fish1:

Somebody HAD to have CO2 availabe in Japan.

And no! While I've made a lot of progress my officce tanks still aren't running :hammer:

Slow and steady wins the race as they say. I enjoy running a tank that doesn't cost $500/mo with new coral and additive additions. Even if I get the reactor I'd build up other corals very slowly. So looking forward to the next batch which will be a pair of Regals Angels, Nasos or Crosshatch Triggers. The latter prolly being quite hard to acquire as I rarely see them. So what's stopping you from setting up that big tank that you have lying around? :)

A wall! I have to get crazy and tear it down :blown: move in the beast and rebuild the wall :hammer:

I bought it with my last office space in mind, it fit perfectly there, but the building was sold and I had to move. I really thought I'd be in that building till I gave this gig up! This office doesn't support lugging in a 8'x30"x30" tank so much... Uhg! :sad2:

I think I'd rather spend the coin and effort changing tanks, so I may sell it and get a 36" deep by 25" high that I can carry right ... and out! :lolspin:

Like you said "slow and steady" and plan for the future!

Yea, that's what I realised. So I asked a local store with a fishy section and they hooked me up.

Took video of the tank today and uploaded to YouTube:

Video doesn't really do it justice. I'll play with the settings and see if I can get better definition.

Cheers, guys. Took another video of the QT system with teh 5 Royal Grammas. Just finished week 1 of Cupramine, 2 weeks to go.
