Jason's 45 Clown tank

Thanks. I thought about getting a aquacontroller or reefkeeper but I think I'll wait until the big(ger) tank for that. I'm looking into a 4.5'x2.5'x2' that the guy who does my ink has for sale

Question: I'll use the above pic as reference because it still looks the same. Notice how the outer tentacles are thickand healthy looking while the inner look skinny and...well like crap. Is this normal for a crispa? I don't feed it much any more because the clowns do and I don't want it getting any bigger right now. When I feed the tank, I do dump it in aspot where the current takes some food to it but on a 12" nem, I doubt it's doing much.

Been meaning to post these. Mama clowns been doing some digging under the crispa. Enough so thatyou can see all the way to where it's foor latches onto the rock

Hard to see this because of glass I can't clean but you can see where the foot latches on in this one

What are the dimentions on that tank? I'm setting up several 45 cubes (24x24x19) for my clowns. I didn't like the water quality I was getting until I took out the tiny 10 gallon sump and installed a 100 gallon sump with a CS12-2 skimmer. I've been spoiled. For the last few years, my main systems have been 300-400 gallon range. I think I forgot how to run a smaller reef. :(

36x12x24...I think. Whatever a 45 tall is. Just a 10 gallon sump underneath with a cheap skimmer, phos reactor and 5 gallon ATO. I'd love a bigger sump but unless I make it, thats all I can squeeze under there. When I upgrade I'm either using this 45 or a 30 I have for the sump.

Did some remodeling and decided to play with my iphone:

Gave the crispa more room. It's got about a third of the tank now

Took a few pics from the side glass. All my rockwork slopes down towards the crispa now with stonies on the top, lps and softies gradually going down:

Top sloping down. You can see the crispa at the far end...sortof:

Down looking up. I kind of placed the lens in a clown's eye view:

One more:

So if I switch to a 75 gallon with a 20 or 30 gal sump, should I let it cycle or just transfer everything over with my old tank water? I'd like different sand but I would be using some of mine to seed. I'll be in a postion where I could pull most of my rock and put it in the new tank while leaving the nem and clowns in the 45 if I have to. I'd rather not though

If you have the time and space I would let it re-cycle. Any time you move from one tank to another there will be a mini cycle at the least. Your best bet would be to slowly move one item at a time over time. That said I have done everything from moving cross country in a U-Haul to moving a tank over slowly and everything in between. Results have varied but the best results were short distances where I had time to set one tank up before breaking down the other.

Thanks guys. I was starting to think maybe my tank looked like crap or something. Did a complete sump clean this morning. All the pumps, the glass, my overflow. I forgot how much starting a U-tube sucks.

My biggest reccomendation: Buy a shop vac for your sump. The sheer amount of crud in there is amazing.

edit: Had a good 50 aiptasia in my overflow box. Guess I know why they kept coming back. Today was a dark day for them

Figured I wouldn't start another thread for a quick ID. What kind of Tang is this? It's in an overstocked 150 at a restaurant

Also COMING SOON......THE 6' 150 UPGRADE!!!

a guy I know nuked his tank and quit...he's giving it to me
