Jay's tank

I'm embarrassed to say but what ever i have the vortech mp40 for like 2 years and i just figured out how to set it to make waves with just one pump its like i have a new toy lol..

For those that don't know you have to put it on the short pulse mode crank it all the way and then hit the set button and then the blue light will blink and then you will be able to adjust it with the knob how big of the wave you want to make..
hopefully i'm not the only one that didn't know how to do it after 2 years lol....

One of my glass protectors for the aqua medic hood broke glass every where in the tank is it safe to run the lights with no glass covering the light?

Hey reef central community I’m back at it again. I got my hands on 2 old kessil a360’s. They both work but one of them the fan isn’t working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So my understanding with Kessil (based on research and not with one in hand) is the fan is secured with rubber screws. Many say they’ll pop off but you have to do it carefully. Some causes of the fan not working is a bad solder point. Others just replace the fan with a Noctua fan -

I’m not very electrically inclined but here’s instructions I found for fan replacement:

Yes the nocturna fan is a perfect replacement. Here’s the process step by step:
1. Remove the two Phillips screws.
2. Pull off the knobs for color and intensity
3. Unscrew the nuts at the base of those shafts
4. Pull the unit apart, but look for the green circuit board surrounding the fan(that will stop you) Take needle nose pliers and squeeze the white standoffs sticking up through the circuit board and pull the circuit board free.
5. Pull on the fan and cut the rubber mounts free(your new fan comes with better ones).
6. Cut the red and white fan wires close to the fan.
7. Strip those wires and cut back and strip the new fan wires. Ignore the yellow.
8. Solder the red to red and electrical tape it.
9. Solder the black to black and electrical tape it
10. Electrical tape the wires together for strength.
11. Get your new fan and reassemble but remember the fan writing goes down.
I’m gonna replace my other one as well and will post pictures. One of the keys is to not try to reconnect a patch cord into the circuit board. Also the standoffs will hang you up(two little white raised bumps on the circuit board.
