JB Kwik Weld info from JB

So, I figured I'd share this as we're always looking at epoxy products for different DIY stuff. I've always been a fan of JB's products. The stuff is as strong as it gets.

I did a few searches on whether their product is safe for saltwater aquariums, but couldn't find any information. My understanding of all epoxy products is that they become completely inert once fully cured, but I had my suspicions on the JB Kwik Weld (Steel Reinforced). Probably more marketing than anything, but I wanted to check the data sheet and with JB.

Here's what I found.

Material Safety Data Sheet

And here's the email communication I had with them.

James,

The Kwik Weld will be fine in your aquarium after fully cured. Thanks for your inquiry.

Sincerely,

Customer Service
JB Weld

Hello,

I'm interested to know if your product, JB Kwik Weld, is safe to use in a saltwater reef aquarium? I understand it is steel reinforced, but my understanding from the data sheet is none of the chemicals should create a problem. It becomes inert once cured and the metals (iron and titanium oxide) pose no threat. Copper would be one of the biggest concerns.

Thanks in advance,

James
