I posted this over in the lighting section as well, but figured I would post it here too.
After thorough research and a lot of reading I have decided to make the jump over to LED. I will be trying LED's out on a 24 Gallon JBJ that is an extra tank not being used at the moment. I've ordered two Ecoxotic Panorama 12 Watt 8K/453 nm Blue combos. I'm thinking of adding an all blue 453 nm 12 watt as well but wanted to make sure that would not be overkill. I've read a lot of stories where LED's are actually too powerful and will "melt" corals. I plan on keeping softies, hammer, frogspawns, and possibly an RBTA down the road.
Option 1- Keep 2 8K/453 nm Blue Combos and have done with it.
or
Option 2- Keep the above and add a 12 watt strip of 453 nm Blue making a total of 3 strips over the tank.
