The white one is some kind of a Toadstool mushroom coral and the tall skinny branched corals are Gorgonians.

Well, I filled the NanoCube with water today so I can get my live rock this weekend... I hear a popping sound and see the black back wall coming loose.
:sad1:

Does anyone of you know whether this is faulty production or a result of waterpressure or resonance of the pumps?

Not a good beginning though but my LFS is getting a new tank. Hopefully I can start at the beginning of next year.

Regards,

Marcel

I screwed up when filling mine....I tried to fill the back chaimbers first. Completly dislodged the back wall. Just pushed it back into place and it has not moved since.

A few weeks ago I mentioned that I wanted to drill my Nano for my sump so last night I did it and its pretty sweet! I ordered a 1'' diamond bit for my half inch bulk head from harbor freight for five bucks and I also got a another set of diamond bits for three all together $14.97 shipped and the bit worked really well. If anyone wants the part # its 32400. I'll post pictures next week because my camera is in Puerto Rico on vacation right now.

I can't wait to see pics of this. I have been thinking of doing the same. What stand do you have? Can you post pics of the stand also? I don't know whether to keep the cube stand or make my own?

Thanks
Billy

Now that I am waiting for my new NC to be deliverd I would like to ask whether the Deltec MCE300 would fit as a hang-on skimmer?
The capacity looks OK but I am wondering if the sizes (especially for the outflow) are right.
If so, it would be a good solution to get some more (working) space in the filter area.

Axia, I really like your tank. The white toadstool looks very nice.

Regards,

Marcel

Quick question:

I've heard that on the 24 gallon Nanocubes, you can't run both of the return pumps at the same time, that the overflow can't keep up.

Is this the case with the 28 gallon as well? My cube arrived with one defective pump, so I've only be running one, but my replacement pump should be here today. The wavemaker was also defective, hopefully they'll be replacing that as well.

I tried running mine with a MJ 900 on one side and a 1200 on the other. That was almost too much so now I am running x900's which is perfect. They are similar in GPH to the stock pumps so I don't see why you would have any trouble running the stock together.

The first modification I made was to cut out the teeth of the stock overflow screen and add a new enlarged overflow in front of it. The main reason was I added an additional sump behind the stock sump. It has its own 350 gph pump that feeds through a chiller and back into the main DT through a new return I added. I'm sure the overflow would have been undersized for the additional flow. With the teeth gone, it allows plenty of flow.

thegrun: can you please upload some pics to show how you modified the overflow? I find the overflow insufficient and would be quite happy to improve the flow, but not sure how to do it. Thanks.

I would like to join the club but don't have a JBJ yet because I can't decide which one to buy?

HQI?
CF?

Why did you buy your JBJ?

What is everyone using for a skimmer. I want to replace my Tunze so I can have my main chamber back. It looks like I am going to need a hand on solution. Any feedback would be great!

If I were buying at this moment, I would have gone for the new LED model rather than the HQI model. I wouldnt go for the CF model in any case.
